Description

The word “shalom” is one of the most common words in the Hebrew language, whether as a greeting when meeting and parting, as a formal address, in everyday conversations, in articles that are passionate, pessimistic or naive, in philosophical writings, or within the sacred Hebrew texts of prayer and the Hebrew Bible. In Arabic as well, the word “salam” is present in daily life and in the holy scriptures. In both Hebrew and Arabic, the root of the word derives from shalem, expressing wholeness, inner peace, and reconciliation. And yet, between these two sister languages, so close to one another, both invoking peace in almost every encounter, peace itself remains an ongoing process that demands great effort on a daily basis. Throughout the course, we will explore various concepts of shalom as they appear in Hebrew writings and traditions, from biblical times to the present day. By engaging with songs, poetry, sacred texts, articles, essays, and key figures in Jewish and Israeli culture, we will discover together the many meanings of this everyday word, so simple, and yet so profound and full of longing: shalom. *** Early Bird Price Start at - 1300 NIS - Until 14/12 Reduced Price Start at - 1400 NIS - Until 04/01 Full Price Start at - 1500 NIS - Until first lesson of the course We have made a small change in our pricing structure and are now offering a sliding scale in order to give you the opportunity to donate 100 or 200 shekels when you buy a course.
