Description

Israel-Palestine is a mess. That’s not new of course, though the last three years have taken us to unbearable new lows. But even in the darkest times: we can protest, we can make and enjoy music, and we can learn. In this Intermediate Hebrew course about protest songs and poetry, we will do all three. Protest music is both a cry of pain that comes from the messy bleeding guts of our current reality, and a rallying cry to come together and change that reality. In this course, we will explore and enjoy current and historical sounds of resistance as a way to understand what is going on in Israel-Palestine and what the hell can be done about it. Anti-war songs, feminist and queer songs. Despairing songs, hopeful songs, ambivalent songs. We will also read poetry, learn protest slogans, discuss what this all means and what we can learn from it, and even do some of our own creative writing (in Hebrew!) inspired by the texts we encounter in class. *** Early Bird Price Start at - 1400 NIS - Until 06/12 Reduced Price Start at - 1550 NIS - Until 03/01 Full Price Start at - 1700 NIS - Until first lesson of the course We have made a small change in our pricing structure and are now offering a sliding scale in order to give you the opportunity to donate 100 or 200 shekels when you buy a course. This money will go toward the TINAU scholarship fund and emergency support for TINAU.
