Solidarity and Hope in Wartime: A Letter from Nagham to the TINAU Community

A flower

Dear TINAU Community,

In the midst of war's chaos and uncertainty, our unity and shared experiences become beacons of strength. As a Palestinian member of our diverse TINAU family, I've personally navigated the profound challenges of the ongoing war. Like many, I grappled with fear and uncertainty, finding it difficult to even step outside my own home for fear of violence and discrimination.

Yet, amidst the turmoil, I discovered a profound sense of empowerment through teaching and learning. After 26 days of isolation, returning to the classroom became my sanctuary. It was there that I found solace in the solidarity of my students and colleagues, realizing that I was not alone in my struggles. Teaching became a beacon of hope, a reminder that together, we can overcome the barriers that seek to divide us.

I share this deeply personal journey with you with a mix of trepidation and hope. It hasn't been easy for me to open up and share these vulnerable moments. Yet, I believe in the transformative power of storytelling and the connections it fosters. In a world where politicians seek to dehumanize us, languages have the remarkable ability to humanize, connecting us on a fundamental level beyond politics or conflict.

Our upcoming TINAU courses offer more than just language acquisition; they provide a space for dialogue, understanding, and resilience-building. By learning together, we not only strengthen our linguistic abilities but also cultivate a sense of belonging and mutual support.

If you believe, like I do, in the importance of preserving our humanity and unity in the face of adversity, then I urge you to join us in this journey of growth and solidarity. Your participation not only enriches your own life but also contributes to sustaining TINAU as a vital community resource.

May those we've lost rest in peace, and may our hearts be mended.

With a blessing of solidarity and hope for more just days,

Nagham
