About the Event
On September 26th, join us in our global classroom via Zoom to learn about the linguistic and historical commonalities between Hebrew and Arabic, with a special seasonal focus on the olive harvest and the Tishrei Jewish High Holidays. The workshop will take place from 19:00-20:30 IST/ 12:00-13:30 ET and will begin with a talk on the fascinating and sometimes surprising historical, linguistic and political relationships between Hebrew and Arabic. Through interactive language games and discussions, we will seek to illuminate the just how much is shared between Arabic and Hebrew.
If you are a Hebrew speaker learning Arabic, an Arabic speaker learning Hebrew, or if you're learning both languages - this workshop will show you that you know more than you think you know and give you tools to apply your knowledge of one language when learning the other. For beginners, good news - no previous knowledge of either language is necessary for participation. The workshop will be run by Tal Janner-Klausner.
