Since the 2000s, Israeli cinema has grown and changed at a dizzying pace. Marginalized stories and characters that had rarely been seen on screen before in Hebrew, began to appear as well as the point of view of - women, Mizrahi, Arabs, LGBT, and Ethiopians. In this course we will look at scenes from movies throughout the past two decades and a bit more, and we will talk about them later both emotionally and culturally, socially and politically. Together, we will examine the center-periphery relations, gender relations, how they have changed over the years, and how Palestinian-Arab-Israeli-Jewish relations appear in them, even when the occupation is not mentioned directly. This is a course for Advanced speakers who seek to use media as a tool to move into fluency. There will be speaking, discussion, and reading in addition to strengthening listening skills and synthesizing information in Hebrew. The entire course, film and coursework, will be in Hebrew. *** Early Bird Price - 1200 NIS - Until 10/09 Regular Price - 1300 NIS - Until 08/10 Late Price - 1400 NIS - Until first lesson of the course
