Are you interested in the twists and turns and ups and downs of Israeli society, history and politics? Are you ready to delve into poetry and Facebook posts to get deeper than the headlines? Are you a language learner who wants to be challenged in a supportive environment and work on both fluency and accuracy? In this class you will communicate and learn about complex, relevant and meaningful issues which we will choose together based on what is most interesting for you. Potential topics could include: Israel and Palestine in the Covid-19 crisis, the historical background and potential implications of annexation, gender issues in the Hebrew language and in Israeli society, tensions between and activism of groups in Israeli society... Whatever we choose, we will use a variety of authentic sources and work on all language skills. Grammar and other linguistic elements will be taught in an integrated way depending on the needs and interests of the students. This course is for learners who are beyond the basic conversational level and can communicate in Hebrew in the present and past tense and form their own sentences. In this course, you will get more creative and confident with the language and be able to communicate with more complexity about a range of topics in society and your daily life.
