From the foundations of the state of Israel, sociology was used and misused to form the new Jewish nation. Prior to statehood, sociological insights, theories, and research was used to explain phenomena such as class, race, and gender to help Zionists design and create a new society. Together, we will read some of those key texts from both mainstream and critical sociologists from S.N. Eisenstadt through Debora S. Bernstein to Areej Sabbagh-Khoury to name a few… We will unpack their covert and overt meanings and how they were implemented within society, while revealing the impact they have on society today. This is a course for Advanced Plus Hebrew speakers who are looking to improve their academic Hebrew and approach university level texts. While there will be speaking and written components, emphasis will be on reading and synthesizing difficult information in Hebrew. *** Early Bird Price - 990 NIS - Until 10/09 Regular Price - 1090 - Until 01/10 Late Price - 1190 - Until first lesson of the course
