Description
Can cities be sustainable and healthy for us and for the natural world? How does the occupation shape Palestinian and Jewish relationships to the land and to nature? How can we learn about, connect to, and give back to nature whilst living in cities? What does climate justice mean in the Jerusalemite context? Come explore these questions and more in one of the most fascinating cities in the world – and all while learning Hebrew at a challenging advanced level! The course will use a variety of methods including discussions, class presentations, trips, reading and writing, games. We will learn about local ecological issues and campaigns including: Injustice in resource, water and land allocation in Israel-Palestine The campaign to save the Jerusalem hills Food waste and food security Community food gardens and sustainable projects The impact of the separation wall on people and nature The ecological and political meaning of JNF forests Why do they keep building more roads and why are we still stuck in traffic?! *** Early Bird Price - 1200 NIS - Until 10/09 Regular Price - 1300 NIS - Until 08/10 Late Price - 1400 NIS - Until first lesson of the course
