About the Event
For the first time since 2011, mainstream Israeli society is waking up to the dire political and socio-economic situation in Israel and the streets are heating up. Thousands are protesting each week across the country, at least 100 hundred are sleeping outside the Prime Ministers house in Jerusalem, dozens have been arrested, with waters canons and riot police being used to disperse crowds. These protests fall under the backdrop of failed and chaotic COVID-19 leadership, rising food insecurity, annexation talks, Benjamin Netanyahu’ corruption trials, the impossibly tight housing bubble, and 9-years since the failed 2011 peaceful social protests.
TINAU is proud to host Oren Ziv, journalist, photographer, and co-founder of Activestills, who has been covering all of the protests and will address the following questions:
What are these protests?
Who is leading them? Who is participating?
What are they aiming to change and achieve?
Why now?
Why is there anti-occupation talk?
How do these protests fit into the context of the 2011 social protests?
Time- 7:00pm (IST)
